Designed by Bettina Wienecke
Bonaire, by Bettina Wienecke, is an exclusive design published in "The Knitter" magazine.
It gets its name from one of the ABC islands in the Caribbean. Why would a fair isle pullover be named after it? One would think this is a contradiction, but there is a connection.
The colours for this design were chosen before the knitting process started. Only while knitting it did the memories of a previous vacation with a day trip to Bonaire come back to mind; memories of walking along huge cacti on the way to the beach. In this pattern, you find the sand with its colours and the cactus landscape combined.
Opposites attract: A Norwegian style pullover usually associated with cloudy, cold winter days and Bonaire, associated with summer, sun, beach.
Summer and winter combined in one design!
Soft alpaca fibres are used so that the pullover can be worn in warmer winter days, but also on those summer evenings when it starts getting cooler again and you want to be outside without getting cold.
This wonderful pullover is knit from the top beginning with a rolled cuff at the neckline. The specialty here is that the first two colours are used when casting on.
It is knit in the round with increases integrated into the design pattern. The arm and body length can be individually adjusted. However, this affects the amount of yarn used of the main colour.
