This yarn can truly claim to be something special.
Arctic Pearl is a Lyocell fiber.
Wait, is that really special? It is!
Because the fiber used to create “Arctic Pearl” is SEACELL, a unique blend of 19% brown algae and 81% eucalyptus cellulose. It is produced in Austria and spun in Italy.
Because we prioritize sustainability and do not support “fast fashion,” it is reassuring to know that the SEACELL fiber is fully biodegradable and compostable. The yarn regulates moisture and temperature, ensuring the highest level of comfort. But here’s the best part: The brown algae in the yarn continue to release antioxidants and vitamins, which have a nourishing and revitalizing effect on the skin. This means your knitted piece is not only pleasant to wear but also actively beneficial for your skin! And this effect is said to last even after multiple washes.
That makes Arctic Pearl truly a unique vegan luxury yarn.
Now, let’s talk about knitting!

At first glance, the elegant sheen of the ball catches the eye. And once you feel it? It’s incredibly silky and soft—you won’t want to put it down! But let’s take a closer look.
Arctic Pearl is available in 50g balls, so if you don’t like winding yarn, you’re in luck—you can start knitting (or crocheting) right away. The yarn is quite fine, with 268 yards (245 meters) per ball, but don’t worry—the recommended needle size is still 3.5 mm (US 4). The gauge is 27 stitches per 40 rows. (Note: The labels on the first LOT have a small error—please disregard the printed gauge there!)
The yarn consists of three very fine individual threads woven into a tubular structure. This gives it an airy volume and elasticity. At first, this may feel unusual while knitting, but you’ll quickly get used to it. The yarn glides smoothly over the needles, almost too smoothly depending on what you’re accustomed to. If it feels too slippery, try experimenting with different needle materials—bamboo needles, for example, provide more grip than lacquered wood or metal needles. It’s worth testing a gauge swatch to find what works best with this luxurious yarn!
Needle Tip:
If you have different needle tip shapes available, try using slightly blunter needles. With lace tips, you might accidentally pierce the thread and pull out a loop. While this can be fixed, it’s best to avoid it altogether.
Block Your Swatch!
Please block your swatch before starting your project. Depending on your knitting tension, Arctic Pearl may change in size after washing, either stretching or shrinking.
Speaking of washing: Arctic Pearl is machine washable!
In fact, washing enhances the stitch definition—after a wash and gentle flat drying, the fabric evens out beautifully.
Since the gauge of 27 stitches per 10 cm (4") isn’t for those seeking quick results, the knitting process is more about enjoying the journey—and the result is an exquisitely soft and drapey fabric. Whether worked in stockinette, delicate lace, or textured stitch patterns, Arctic Pearl brings out the best in any design. Even brioche stitch looks amazing, as the lightness of the yarn prevents the deep stitches from pulling down too much.

Speaking of being light - For a size M sweater, you’ll need only about 250 grams (5 balls) of this fine yarn!
Arctic Pearl is perfect for summer tops, but also for scarves and shawls. Even those with the most sensitive skin can wear it directly against the skin—it’s an ideal choice for baby knits as well.
